The Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued early today before midday for heavy falls and flash flooding, coming in diagonally from the north-west with some moderate-heavy falls.
By the time it reached Coomera & Southport at around 1-2pm, very heavy falls showed on the radar near the CBD and bayside areas, with power outages reported across Brisbane (according to Energex.com.au). Throughout the afternoon moderate to heavy falls continued throughout the GC area, from the hinterland to the coast.
User 'Tweets' (#bnestorm) advised of flash flooding occurring around Milton and Wooloongabba, and cars swimming in the rising waters. The Gold Coast wasn't as badly affected, with expected stream rises over causeways around Mudgeeraba and Bonogin,
There were a small number (approx 400) of people affected by power outages in Worongary from about 4pm, with a small number still affected (about 90) late into the evening.
