Wet and stormy weekend ahead

Rainfall Forecast for Saturday 27 December 2014.

Up to 50-100mm of rain possible on Saturday and 15-25mm on Sunday for the Gold Coast if the rainfall forecast maps are anything to go by.

There's been a slight update to the Christmas day forecast - now a slight chance (20%) of a shower or storm, mainly near the hinterland. Boxing day onwards into next week is still looking like showers and storms.

Less rain Friday, but strong winds and powerful surf into the weekend

Whilst we're now only expecting 50mm on Friday and 15mm on Saturday, strong to near gale force winds will start on Friday and powerful surf conditions expected on Saturday and Sunday.

Up to 125mm is expected fall on the Gold Coast over Friday and Saturday, similar to a rain event that brought heavy rain and flooding back on the 27-28 March 2014.
